Patrick Brain, DDS
Dr. Brain is fortunate to practice as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, a specialty with a broad range of procedures related to the teeth, jaws, and face. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah. He attended Creighton University, graduating with a dental degree. After completing 4 years of dental school, he was accepted into the highly competitive post doctorate oral surgery residency program at the University of Michigan. While based in the University of Michigan Hospital, he spent considerable time rotating in medicine, ICUs, and trauma burn unit. One year was dedicated to training in anesthesia. He finished his residency training in 2004.
Over the past ten years, he has maintained a private practice focusing on the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is affiliated with 5 local hospitals and one surgical center where he performs more complex surgeries, often related to corrective jaw and trauma surgery. He maintains a teaching position at the Veteran’s Hospital where he helps mentor and train dental residents while serving the nation’s veterans. He has been actively involved in clinical research, working closely with pharmaceutical companies as the lead principle investigator. Results from many of the studies have been published in major medical and research journals. Dr. Brain is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Utah Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Chalmers J. Lyons Academy. He consistently attends local and out of state meetings to further his education in a pursuit to remain current for the benefit of his trusting and valued patients.
Dr. Brain has spent considerably time working to enhance and perfect methods of bone grafting, jaw reconstruction, and dental implant reconstruction. He takes great pride in applying cutting edge surgical and anesthetic methods to enhance the lives of his patients through improving their function and esthetics. Having trained extensively in anesthesia, his ability to provide safe, patient specific anesthesia enables even the most anxious patient to feel comfortable and relaxed. He takes immense pride in his office staff.
Dr. Brain enjoys collaboration with other medical and dental colleagues. He strongly believes that the application of evidence based science should be the goal of those charged with managing the medical and dental needs of the community. In an effort to realize this goal, Dr. Brain seeks opportunities to enhance education through an interdisciplinary approach.
He is married to an incredibly supportive spouse and enjoys his 5 children. He is an avid golfer, fly-fisherman, and cyclist. Having grown up on the sands of Southern California beaches, he still enjoys mornings spent in the Pacific, surfing with his brother.
